I do not consider myself a traditional Street Photographer. Text sometimes is added to images like a page from a book or images are combined to form montages that are illusionistic. Therefore, the work generally has an alternative bent to it. The underlying interest is a story that opens dialogue about situations shared or commonplace within the context of urban life or those that speak to revisiting past experience. I also am attracted to landscapes that evoke memory or emotion: another time and place and to imagery that inspects aspects of the natural world in micro-view as a continuum on a page. This work on place, its contents and scale is a recently begun project that will continue to develop over time. Prints as solar intaglios derive from altered photographic material. Subject matter varies based on the theme of a project or collaboration. Susan Gans |
